Tidal

Tidal is Matt Derminio’s first marble sculpture, carved from stone he unearthed in a compost pile behind the sculpture studio at Northern Arizona University during his senior year. At the time, his focus was metal fabrication and casting - until this unexpected find changed his path. His professor’s challenge was simple:

“If you can move it, you can have it.”

That moment ignited a lifelong passion for stone carving. Since then, Matt has traveled to Pietrasanta, Italy, twice to study under master sculptors, continually refining his craft, learning new techniques and exploring the hidden potential within every block of stone.
