ARTIST BIO

Matt Derminio is a Sculptor and Designer based in Scottsdale, Arizona, whose practice bridges traditional craftsmanship and emerging technologies. With a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and New Media from Northern Arizona University and an MBA in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, he brings a rare combination of artistic rigor and strategic vision.

Since establishing his studio in 2022, Matt has focused on the demanding yet timeless medium of stone, while expanding into wood, steel, and digital fabrication. His work is influenced by the stark power of brutalist architecture, the fluidity of contemporary abstraction, and a deep commitment to sustainability. He seeks to harmonize ancient materials with novel fabrication techniques, producing sculptures that reflect on both personal experience and collective challenges.

Matt’s emerging body of work embraces mixed media, advanced materials, and digital integrations to create immersive “Impact Art” - sculptures that act as catalysts for dialogue, connection, and awareness. By combining his artistic practice with global business acumen, he pushes the boundaries of how art intersects with technology and society, curating works that are aesthetically compelling, socially relevant, and future-focused.

impact art

A form of artistic expression that intentionally seeks to generate positive social and environmental impact alongside aesthetic and emotional engagement. Similar to impact investment, impact art focuses on addressing global challenges and raising awareness about critical issues such as climate change, social justice, sustainability, and community development. Artists creating impact art aim to inspire change, provoke thought, and encourage action among their audiences. This type of art often incorporates elements of traditional and digital media, merging creativity with a purpose-driven approach to contribute meaningfully to society and the environment. The effectiveness of impact art is measured by its ability to foster dialogue, influence public opinion, and drive tangible improvements in the issues it addresses.
